Top Down Perspective 19/09/13

GTAV is out this week and we spend a good deal of time talking about Nathan's enjoyment with it. Sean plays some PlayStation All-Stars and The Wonderful 101 while Jon packs up his things and continues with Mario & Luigi Dream Team.There's a ton of news this week including the death of Hiroshi Yamauchi, a new Nintendo Direct, Atlus being bought by Sega and Criterion Games splitting up.

Top Down Perspective 12/09/13

We're all back for the entire length of this episode. Jon and Sean have been playing Disney Infinity. Sean also plays through Gunpoint and Botanicula while Nathan plays some more Far Cry 2 and Scurvy  Scallywags. Jon also plays some of The Wonderful 101.News is mainly Sony related with the recent Japanese press conference. We also discuss Steam's family mode and the new Humble Bundle.

Jon and Nathan return from Seattle to talk all about this year's PAX Prime. Sean quickly mentions his time with Rayman Legends and The Room Epilogue and we bring up some brief news. After than we jump right into the PAX talk, Sean's internet dies and everyone has a great time!

Sean is away on vacation so Nathan and Jon talk about the games they played for an EXCEEDINGLY long time. New record, its gotta be. So, hear exhaustive breakdowns of the best desert island game around, Miasmata, the critical darling Gone Home, the fourth in a long-running series of quirky RPGs, Mario and Luigi Dream Team, the stylish follow-up to The Dishwasher, Charlie Murder, the perhaps unfortunate remake of Flashback, Brad Shoemaker's favorite game,Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Dave Lang's Divekick, Wayforward's Mighty Switch Force 2 and, finally, 7 Grand Steps: What Ancients Begat, Nathan's Game of Show from E3 2013. After all of that, we still find a bit of time for some news. Steve Ballmer is planning to leave Microsoft about a year from now, right after shutting down Games for Windows Live. Launch lineups for the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 have been revealed, so we run down those along with some tid-bits from Sony's conference at Gamescom this past week. We talk about Notch's cancelled sci-fi game, the PS3 exclusive Dark Souls II beta, and an exciting opportunity for indie developers over at GOG.comAll that and a few dalliances here and there on the Top Down Perspective!

Jon is away being sick this week so Nathan and Sean kick things off by talking about Kick-Ass 2. Sean then shares his thoughts on finishing the first Phoenix Wright as well as starting out with Pikmin 3. Nathan discusses more Papers, Please, Bully and how he can't wait for Gone Home.News has us talking about more policy changes with the Xbox One, a new slate of Humble Bundles to get REALLY excited about and some GTA5 multiplayer info released.

It's a knee-slapper this week...that'll make sense a minute or two in. Sorry. Just Nathan and Jon this week, as they talk open-world games such as Saint's Row the Third and Red Dead Redemption, the final hours of the Cloudberry Kingdom Infinity Cup, The Swapper, The Walking Dead 400 Days and more! Then we discuss the recent Phil Fish twitter drama surrounding Fez II, some recent upcoming game announcements and the hottest Pinball and Arcade show in the city of Calgary, Pincade 2013! The Steam sale is over and we wrap up our experiences with it. Jon continues to play Deadpool and Project X Zone as well as checking out Picross e2. Nathan is playing a ton of games including Tomb Raider, Uncharted 3 and ZombiU. Sean finishes up Trine and plays through Cherry Tree High Comedy Club.In the news section we discuss how Atlus is being sold off, Microsoft announcing that the Xbox One will be very indie developer friendly and how the 3DS is selling well for Nintendo.

Top Down Perspective - 18/07/13

It's the Summer Steam Sale and we're talking about the games we've bought and the cards we've collected! Jon also brings up Deadpool and the new Streetpass games/update. Nathan goes through a whole bunch including The Witcher 2, Blood Dragon and the new Call of Juarez. Sean revists Trine and tries out Antichamber.As for the news, we discuss Sony's PLAY line-up of games this summer as well as their weird new trophy-bidding thing and Deadly Premonition is now on Greenlight.

This week Jon is talking all about Picross E and Super Luigi U with Sean. Sean also brings up more of The Last of Us and gushes over Game & Wario. Nathan talks The Last Man and Demon Souls.The news section brings up the recent decision from Microsoft to stop charging for patches, DoubleFine asking for more money for Broken Age and Klei Entertainment announces a new game.

Jon's back from his trip to talk about Disneyland and some game convention before his internet dies on us and leaves. Nathan has been playing a lot of games starting with the letter 'A' and Sean talks about The Last of Us some more.News is short but we discuss the latest Layton game that appeared on iOS, a couple games getting banned in Australia and some MGS1 remake confusion.

Our schedules didn't work together this week so you're getting two back to back solocasts in this episode. Jon is still away on his vacation so Nathan is up first with what he's been playing. He talks about Animal Crossing New Leaf and last year's XCOM. Sean comes in next to talk about The Last of Us, Thomas Was Alone and, also, Animal Crossing New Leaf.

Top Down Perspective - E3 2013 Edition

This is the longest episode I think we've ever recorded. Clocking in at nearly 3 hours, you get to listen to all our thoughts about E3 2013. We run through the four press conferences and Nintendo Direct that happened on the opening days. Nathan and Jon then go into great detail about the games they played while down in LA.

The three of us are all together and here to share our thoughts on how our Japanese Sega Saturn live stream went. Sean talks about finishing up 999 and playing some Ouendan and Proteus. Nathan talks about a few Mario games and a bunch of NES stuff and Jon brings up a few games from an earlier live stream of his.
News is real packed this week with a few announcements dealing with the Xbox One. We also talk about Konami's pre-E3 show, a re-release of Tales of Symphonia and Respawn Entertainment's new game gets leaked early.

Top Down Perspective 30/05/13

Sean has returned from his trip overseas with grand tales of his travels. We discuss some of the games and toys he purchased as well as some upcoming plans. Nathan isn't here this week and Jon discusses Final Fantasy 8 while Sean talks about 999.
News is scarce since E3 is getting close but we talk about the ending of Curiosity, Double Fine's new Kickstarter and the two Humble Bundles currently going on.

Top Down Perspective 23/05/2013

One of our international travelers has returned! Jon is back to talk about the Xbox One (or is it Xone, Xbone or X1?) and a smattering of other news, as well as Witch and Hero, that new-fangled Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Mario's latest Minis escapade on the 3DS. Nathan finally hit the bottom of the Hotline Miami barrel (if Cactus is reading this, level-editor in the sequel, PLEASE make it happen) and is maybe too excited about Super Mario 3D Land. Is it the Majora's Mask of Mario games? Listen to find out! Oh, and some other things happened, Atari died again, someone said Mirror's Edge 2 somewhere and people freaked out, same ol' same ol'.

Top Down Perspective 16/05/13

It's a Ramblin' Rohr! Sean and Jon are jet-setting around the planet, so its just Nathan alone in a basement talking to himself. But hey, that's its own kind of weird fun, right? RIGHT? Anyway, topics this week range from Metro 2033 to the sudden change in policy towards Let's Players Nintendo just unleashed. That topic is way too big for one man, but I rattle off some thoughts, along with another news update or two and a brief appraisal of the latest Star Trek film. Oh, and moving is weird, huh? Some thoughts on that and more (a bit more, I promise its not too long) on this week's Top Down Perspective.

Top Down Perspective 09/05/13

It's the last episode before Jon and Sean take off traveling for a bit. Nathan and Jon have been playing the browser game Candy Box while Sean finishes up DmC and Fire Emblem Awakening, he also discovers Doritos Crash Course 2.
As for the news: EA secures exclusive rights to any future Star Wars games, Penny Arcade puts out a controversial kickstarter, weird happenings with Ubisoft employees and Burnout Paradise is on sale on Steam and Sean now owns every version of that game.
